1. What are the Inks and related product and services Tirupati Inks is geared up for delivering to Indian and International customers?

Presently Tirupati Inks manufactures a wide range of solvent based Flexo and Gravure inks for surface and lamination print jobs. These inks are designed to print on wide range of substrates from Paper, Foil to various grades of plastic films. In case of lamination as well these inks are tuned to work with different laminating systems, such as - solvent based / - solvent less / - extrusion and -water based adhesives. Various tailor made ink systems are on offer, keeping in mind the divergent requirements of packaging industry. These inks are equally at ease while running on locally manufactured slow speed printing machines as well as very modern high speed printing European printing machines.

In addition to above Tirupati Inks have recently introduced water based Gravure and Flexo inks for Paper printing. Further, towards the end of this calendar year there is a plan to introduce products in the UV inks and coatings range as well.

2. What is your standard packing size?

Standard packing size is 22 kg. for colours & 25 kg for white - Metal drums. We also supply inks in bigger packings (180 kgs metal barrel packing and 900 kgs Plastic Tote tanks). In case of export orders the material is delivered in paletted cargo form (FOB/CIF).

3. What a customer can expect to gain by using Tirupati Inks?

Our inks have been designed to be very cost effective when compared to our competitors. This has been achieved without compromising on any of the known performance criterion and with the clear goal of supporting the profitability and/or competitiveness of our customers. Customers are used to expecting higher mileage, lower wastages, better ink transfer, longer cylinder life and fewer problems of streaking and cell filling during printing operation while using any of the Inks from Tirupati Stable. Moreover, the stability of the inks is very good during long run or during very high-speed printing operations. In addition to this, higher bond strengths during lamination and much lower solvent retention issues have been reported. Another advantage is consistency in print quality achieved while using our products.

4. How will I judge that your mileage/ink properties are better than competitor?

While it is difficult to ascertain the same, we have found that by using the same cylinders and printing moderate quantities of film under similar conditions it is possible to determine this. Of course, this involves accurate weighing of material used, maintenance of viscosities and correct estimation of the return inks after printing. Measurement of Ink GSM under identical printing conditions and print results is another confirmatory tool. 5. Are your inks inter-mixable with the inks I am already using?

In general terms inks employing similar resin systems and marketed same application are likely to be compatible with each other even if sourced from two different manufacturers. As a precautionary step, we suggest that before mixing our inks with any other brand of inks, you check the compatibility to your satisfaction before usage. For best results, it is recommended that no mixing be done so that highest possible gloss levels, lowest solvent retention levels are attained on printed matter and higher bond strengths are achieved.

6. Are your inks compatible with all grades of laminating adhesives available in the market?

While it is impossible to check all grades of adhesives available in the market, we have found that our ink has no compatibility problems with adhesives commonly used for dry lamination. However, it is advised that compatibility of inks be thoroughly checked before solvent less lamination.

7. If I order inks now, when will they be delivered?

Tirupati Inks dispatches from their factory all standard product orders within 48 hours of placement of the order. Of course, this excludes delays due to natural calamities, transporter strikes, breakdowns (factors not in control of Tirupati Inks). In case of new color matchings the dispatch time at upper level could be three to four working days.

8. If I face any problem in running your inks, how can you help me technically?

9. What printing speeds are advisable for your inks?

These inks could be run on slow printing machines as well as on very high speed printing machines, the only thing one needs to alter or ensure is the appropriate viscosity and reducer combination, which is aligned with the speed. The Product data Sheets (PDSs) related individual ink system provides the requisite information on the subject matter.

10. If a special matching is required, how fast can you help?
What will I be required to provide to initiate the request?

We normally match all colours given to us within 48 hours of receipt of complete information. Normally, we would require the target shade (possibly both printed & laminated), the laminate structure, substrate to be used, heat resistant properties, ARSR properties and light fastness properties etc. If additional information on printing speed, cylinder configuration is also available, then it will greatly assist in achieving accuracy.

11. Can I get heat resistance properties of printed matter checked?

Yes, we have the facility in our laboratory to give you this result at varying temperatures, pressures and dwell times.

12. Why is it necessary to shake ink containers before use?

Printing inks tend to settle upon storage. This is more acute with whites, phthalo pigments (Green and Blues) & blacks. Therefore, shaking before usage is always recommended so that a homogenous mixture is formed and proper strength of ink is attained. Further, some of the surfactants, like waxes etc .also have tendency to settle or float when the ink container is kept in stationary state over long period of storage.

13. Can you provide a food grade certificate for your employing your inks in packaging applications (indirect contact)?

Yes. Almost all our inks are designed for food grade packaging with indirect food contact.

14. Ink Kitchen facility and its advantages.

It is common practice n the advance world for medium and large size customers / convertors to have Ink kitchen facility inside their premises. Normally operation of this kind of facility could be divided in to two formats:

(A) Ink Kitchen with Dispenser System:  In this case the dispenser system could be with 16/24/32 nodes.  Where each of these node is in the form of 200 Ltr.  to 1000 Ltr. Ink Conc. Drum or plastic Tote Tank and couple of Technology varnishes + additives.  The individual nodes are mechanically connected to dispensing head with one large diameter and one narrow diameter pipe, which could be routinely flushed with cleaning solvent.  The whole system is controlled by Computer (Hardware), where various ink formulation, including colour matching data base are stored.  When the operator punches the desired ink code (corresponding to concerned ink formulation) and required ink quantity on the system - the dispenser system automatically draws the individual ingredients from the storage drums / Tote Tanks and mixes them to homogenize.  The finished ink thus obtained would be having appropriate printing viscosity and shall be ready to be transferred to the printing machine.   Operating dispensing system provides a very clean and tidy environment, with just in time availability of desired ink shade for the Convertors operating 24 Hrs 7 days a week.  Other operation of this ink kitchen system are similar to the one covered under next format.  One needs minimum 50 to 60 Tones consumption of one single ink system per month for this operation to be financially viable.

(B) Standard Ink Kitchen Operation:  Under this second consideration the ink ketchen is provided with:

  1. A ink technician with colour matching and ink stock management experience
    • Provides machine ready inks to printing supervisor - based on individual print job requirements
    • Maintains print job and run wise ink consumption record
    • Manages press return ink - recycling
    • In-House, on-time Colour matching for new (and re-run) print jobs - recording of the formulation for future re-print orders
    • Basic support for the print supervisor in terms of ink adjustments in relation to printing run issues - application engineer
